KINO LUCERNA
The Lucerna cinema was ceremoniously opened on December 3, 1909, so this year it will celebrate an incredible 112 years of its existence, making it one of the oldest still functioning cinemas across Europe and the world. In this incredibly long time, tens of thousands of film titles have been screened on the screen of the prestigious cinema hall, which is an integral part and decoration of the Lucerna Palace, millions of spectators have taken their seats and hundreds of film stars have stood on its stage at the film's premiere.

At present, the hall has 453 seats, is equipped with state-of-the-art 4K digital technology, which also enables 3D projection, Dolby Surround sound equipment in 7.1 format and is the most visited classic cinema in the Czech Republic.

The second cinema hall of the Lucerna cinema welcomed its first spectators at the end of 2013. The premises in which it was created have a very interesting history - more than seventy years ago there used to be a private projection room of co-owner of the Lucerna Palace and founder of Barrandov studios Miloš Havel (uncle President Václav Havel and his brother, scientist Ivan M. Havel). At that time, the hall was used mainly for private previews of films made under the banner of the production company Lucernafilm, or for closed screenings, to which only the closest of the owner's friends had access. As far as is known, there has never been a performance for the general public. After nationalization, the hall was abolished and divided into several smaller rooms.
We are honored that in these historic premises we can currently operate a chamber cinema with a capacity of 51 seats, which untraditionally decorates portraits of leading Czechoslovak, European and world filmmakers, including a portrait of Miloš Havel in a place of honor in the middle of the front row. The hall is equipped with a 2K digital projector with 3D projection, as well as Dolby Surround sound equipment in 7.1 format.
